Syria aims for policy based on national interests, open to foreign investment

Syria intends to base its foreign policy solely on national interests and is actively seeking to attract foreign investment, President Ahmad al-Sharaa said in an interview with SANA, Report informs.

He emphasized that Damascus does not want to rely on aid or politicized loans. Instead, the country aims to rebuild its economy on new principles by attracting capital and creating jobs.

According to al-Sharaa, Syria has rapidly restored its international and regional ties, and even the United States has shown interest in investing in the country. He noted that the previous regime was cautious about foreign investments, although such investments contribute to stability and strengthen foreign policy positions.

"Syria seeks calm in its relations with all countries in the world and the region. This has been our clear policy from the very beginning. We do not wish to have tensions with any country," he said.

Speaking on bilateral ties, al-Sharaa stated that Syria is ready to further develop relations with Russia, despite Moscow's previous support for the Bashar al-Assad regime. "As for Iran, the wound was a bit deeper, but we are not claiming that there will be a permanent rift between us," he added.
