More than 22,000 people have been affected by days of heavy rainfall in India's Assam state, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), Report informs via Hindustan Times.
In total, 22,124 people have been impacted by floods in the districts of Dhemaji, Nalbari, Dibrugarh, Chirang, Lakhimpur, and Kokrajhar.
Dhemaji is the worst‑hit district, with 15,483 people affected due to rising water levels. Floodwaters have inundated 96 villages and damaged approximately 1,690 hectares of agricultural land.
Authorities added that landslides have damaged homes and roads, while a railway bridge built in 1965 has been partially destroyed.
