Kremlin warns Ukraine strikes could expand Russia's buffer zone

The more Ukraine targets Russian infrastructure, the more Russia will expand its buffer zone, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, Report informs via Russian media.

Peskov made the remarks while commenting on recent statements by US President Donald Trump, who said that strikes on Russian infrastructure represent an escalation that could help end the conflict.

"Further escalation may prolong the military operation to some extent. We cannot say exactly to what extent, but it will lead to the need to create a larger security zone, a larger buffer zone," Peskov said.

He added that rising tensions and actions contributing to escalation would not help advance the peace process regarding Ukraine.

Peskov also said that Trump did not call Russian President Vladimir Putin the previous day, despite earlier statements suggesting that such a conversation had taken place.
