India sees another record hike in COVID incidence, deaths

Over the past day, India recorded 412,262 new cases of coronavirus infection, which brought the country’s total case count to 21,077,410, Report informs, citing the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Meanwhile, 3,980 Indians died due to COVID-related health issues.
Today’s incidence is the highest to date; the previous record hike was seen on May 1 and amounted to 401,993. Thus, India for the second time recorded more than 400,000 cases per day, such daily incidence has not yet been officially recorded anywhere in the world.
The growth in the number of deaths also broke a record in India; the previous highest number (3,780) of deaths was observed the day before. The country’s total COVID death toll has reached 230,168.
