Hungary opposes EU's allocation of additional assistance to Ukraine

Hungary has opposed the EU's allocation of additional aid to Ukraine, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said at the Granada summit, Report informs via The Guardian.

According to him, 3 years have already passed since the 7-year European budget was used, and Brussels is forcing member states to allocate more funds to the war in Ukraine and migrants: “Hungary cannot support the amendments to the European Union budget for 2024-2027 to increase the financial aid allocated to Ukraine. Hungary is fighting illegal migration on its southern borders, and it has become more serious. Brussels, on the other hand, proposes to accept the Migration pact and prepares to pay for another 4 years to continue the war in Ukraine. Instead of accepting a ceasefire, they provide arms. Instead of peace, this money will ensure the continuation of military operations.”

The head of the government said that Hungary does not give weapons to Ukraine: "We want a ceasefire. In such a case, Hungary cannot support amendments to the EU budget."
