Erdogan: NATO summit in Ankara could become turning point in alliance's history

Türkiye hopes that the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara will become a landmark event in the history of the alliance, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday.
He noted that the participation of US President Donald Trump would be an important factor contributing to the unity of the North Atlantic Alliance.
"The announcement that US President Donald Trump will personally attend the summit is an important step in terms of strengthening Alliance cohesion. We have intensified preparations to ensure that the summit becomes a landmark event in NATO's history," Erdogan said.
The NATO summit in Ankara is scheduled to take place on July 7–8, 2026.
