China detects first case of infection with Omicron strain

China has detected the first case of infection with the omicron strain of coronavirus in the northern city of Tianjin, Report informs via foreign media.

The Chinese health authorities noted that the infected person came from abroad. The infected individual has not developed symptoms of the disease and has been hospitalized.

“It is the first time an omicron strain has been detected in mainland China,” the health authorities said.
