Baku. 29 January. REPORT.AZ/ The United States slid four points lower on a global corruption index in 2018, dropping out of the top 20 countries for the first time since 2011, watchdog Transparency International said in a report that cited growing threats to democracy worldwide.
Report informs citing Reuters that under President Donald Trump, the United States dropped six places to 22nd globally in the 2018 corruption-perception index.
According to the authors of the study, the global increase in corruption is associated with an increase in the number of populist politicians who violate the foundations of democracy.
