Albania has fulfilled all legislative obligations in the energy sector required by the European Union (EU), the country's Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, stated, according to Report's Balkans bureau.
The minister noted that this reform places Albania among the region's most advanced states in aligning energy legislation with EU standards.
"Albania and Montenegro are currently among the few regional countries that have met all legal requirements in this field. Solar energy already accounts for more than 10% of electricity production in Albania. The country has installed around 650 megawatts of solar capacity and is evaluating additional solar and wind projects," Karakaçi stated.
He also urged the EU to accelerate financing mechanisms for the Western Balkans, stressing that faster investment in energy interconnectors is crucial for integrating renewable sources and strengthening regional energy security.
