Azerbaijan's digital transformation policy has entered the stage of systematic institutional governance, Ramid Namazov, chairman of the Milli Majlis Commission on Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats, said at public hearings, Report informs.
The hearings were held on the topic "Digital development, artificial intelligence and protection of children from the harmful effects of social media."
According to Namazov, President Ilham Aliyev has defined the strategic direction and long-term priorities, while First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva ensures coordination and oversight of the implementation of these tasks.
"This confirms that digital development is one of the state's highest priorities," Namazov said.
He recalled that in February 2026, a meeting chaired by the president was held on Azerbaijan's new digital architecture, during which tasks were set for the introduction of AI, the creation of data centers and reforms in digitalization.
Namazov noted that Azerbaijan has unique advantages, including its location at the crossroads of transport corridors, the growth of generating capacity to 10,000 MW and the availability of 2,000 MW of spare capacity, which he said is a key condition for the development of data centers and AI infrastructure.
He also recalled that a presidential decree established the Digital Development Council chaired by Mehriban Aliyeva, which is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of the Action Plan for 2026-2028.
