Azerbaijani Milli Majlis granted observer status in PAM

The Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan has been granted observer status in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Report informs.

This issue was highlighted during the meeting between Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and PAM President Giulio Centemero.

Speaker Gafarova expressed her satisfaction with the approval of the application for observer status at the PAM Bureau meeting held the previous day. She noted that once the final decision is made, this status will create new opportunities for the development of inter-parliamentary relations.

Giulio Centemero, in turn, emphasized that the PAM is also interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan. He pointed out that although Azerbaijan is not located in the Mediterranean region, it is situated in an important area, which creates favorable conditions for parliamentary dialogue.

The meeting also touched upon cooperation between the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN) and the PAM.

Gafarova further stressed the Milli Majlis's interest in expanding international relations.

Discussions included cooperation between NAM PN and PAM, as well as the granting of reciprocal observer status. It was noted that the consideration of similar issues in both organizations provides good opportunities for collaboration.
