Nozima Muratova: Digital transformation brings both challenges and opportunities

Joint projects between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, including media labs, academic exchanges, and programs for students and young researchers, could become an example of regional cooperation with global significance, Nozima Muratova, vice-rector for Science and Innovation at the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan, said at the 2nd Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Media Forum, Report informs.

According to her, digital technologies have changed the way society consumes news and communicates. Today, journalism not only informs but also builds trust, promotes social development, and fosters societal resilience.

"Academic research helps understand these processes and provide practical recommendations for editorial boards, regulators, and society. Such research is only effective through collaboration," she said.

Muratova emphasized that digital transformation brings both challenges and opportunities. The main goal is to unite the efforts of universities, research centers, media organizations, and international partners to train a new generation of professionals who will become competent journalists and responsible citizens of a digital society.

"This forum will become a platform for new ideas and initiatives that will strengthen cooperation between our countries and contribute to the development of the global media sphere," she concluded.
