ANAS: Int'l book fair is major scientific, cultural event for Azerbaijan

The international book fair is a significant scientific and cultural event for Azerbaijan, Academician Isa Habibbayli, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), said at the opening ceremony of the 11th Baku International Book Fair, Report informs.

Habibbayli emphasized that such fairs contribute to the development of publishing and reading culture in the country.

The academician also noted that the annual international book fair is organized at a high level.

During the ceremony, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament) Culture Committee, Polad Bulbuloglu, stated that books have always played an important role in the lives of Azerbaijani citizens. He described the week-long international fair as a cultural event.

At the same time, Azerbaijan's Commissioner for Human Rights, Sabina Aliyeva, highlighted that over 250 events are planned as part of the fair: "Such fairs are a major initiative for cultural enlightenment. They contribute to the development of legal awareness and cultural consciousness in society."
