A delegation of prominent Georgian cultural figures, Turkologists, and ecologists has arrived in Baku, Report informs.
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Culture Minister Sevda Mammadaliyeva and Rector of the Baku Musical Academy Farhad Badalbayli met the Georgian delegation.
The delegation was informed about the vandalism of Armenians against the cultural monuments of Azerbaijan during the 30-year occupation, as well as the ongoing restoration work in the territories liberated as a result of the victory in the 44-day Patriotic War.
Deputy Minister of Culture Sevda Mammadaliyeva recalled that this year Azerbaijan and Georgia are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
"Our countries have historically developed very close and friendly relations," she added.
A mugham concert was also held in honor of the arrival of the delegation in Baku.
"Mugham is the soul of the Azerbaijani music. With this concert, we want to introduce you to our roots. In 2008, UNESCO declared Azerbaijani mugham one of the masterpieces of the oral and intangible cultural heritage of mankind, which is very important for us," Sevda Mammadaliyeva said.
During the visit, which will last until April 17, the Georgian delegation will also visit Ganja and the cities of Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Agdam, and Shusha, the cultural capital of the Turkic world, liberated from occupation.
