Cicadas blanket part of US - PHOTO

Billions of cicadas have attacked several US states, Report informs, citing NBC News.

The insects are most active in Virginia, Maryland, and Georgia. Specialists expect warning in a bigger part of the eastern coastline that would attract an even greater number of cicadas.

The red-eyed cicadas are emerging from underground for the first time in the past 17 years.

According to an entomologist at Connecticut University, the experience is unique because these insects emerge for about a month.
