UN: Azerbaijan sets example by creating space for dialogue at WUF13

Against the backdrop of ongoing conflicts and global instability, Azerbaijan is hosting the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13), turning Baku into an international platform for dialogue on the future of cities, according to Igor Garafulic, UN Resident Coordinator ad interim in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

Garafulic made the remarks at the international conference under the theme Formation of Human Capital for Sustainable and Resilient Urban Development held in Baku.

He emphasized that holding the forum in Baku carries special significance in the current international context, noting that as of now, 32,000 participants have registered for WUF13, which begins on May 17.

The UN representative added that WUF13 is not only a large‑scale international event but also a key platform for global dialogue:

"At a time when many conflicts exist worldwide, Azerbaijan provides a venue to discuss crucial topics such as housing accessibility and urban planning. This is a very good example for the whole world."
