The unstable global situation challenges the international community to develop tools aimed at increasing urban resilience and the practical application of sustainable development models, Jordanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Omar Al Nahar said at a ministerial roundtable during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, according to Report.
The diplomat expressed deep gratitude to the Azerbaijani government for organizing WUF13 in the country's capital, noting the high level of preparation for this significant international event.
"WUF13 is being held against the backdrop of a dynamically transforming and challenging global environment, where numerous challenges intertwine: economic upheavals, climate change, the increasing number of natural disasters, and armed conflicts in the Middle East and other regions of the world.
These factors are placing unprecedented strain on cities and their ability to meet the growing housing needs of their populations. The current situation effectively obliges the international community to create mechanisms that promote urban resilience and implement sustainable development models," the ambassador emphasized.
