Mikayil Jabbarov: Azerbaijan reduced poverty from 49% to 5%

Over the past 20 years, Azerbaijan has succeeded in reducing poverty levels from 49% to 5%, Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, said during the session Cities at the Center of Connectivity: Urban Reconstruction and Regional Cooperation held within the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.

According to the minister, Azerbaijan's achievements in economic development and urban connectivity have played a crucial role in improving people's welfare: "Linking economic development with urban growth is one of the main goals for improving quality of life. Azerbaijan is among the countries that resolved one of the region's most complex and long-lasting territorial conflicts. As President Ilham Aliyev emphasized yesterday, and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov reiterated today, Azerbaijan continues to actively work in this direction."
