Kovari: Karabakh, Eastern Zangazur being restored with due consideration for their historical heritage, natural environment

In restoring Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, Azerbaijan is applying urban planning approaches that take into account historical heritage and the natural environment, Dunja Kovari, founding partner of SA-Partners, a company specializing in urban design and planning, said at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

She noted that Shusha is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List and is the cultural center of the region. A contextual urban restoration approach, respectful of historical heritage, was applied in developing the city's master plan.

She added that new urban planning models that take into account the mountainous terrain, natural environment, and local characteristics are being used in the restoration of the Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur regions, including Kalbajar and Lachin.
