ICAO awards Azerbaijan for achievements in flight safety oversight system

Azerbaijan has been recognized for its success in establishing an effective flight safety oversight system, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport as the source.
According to the information, a delegation from the State Civil Aviation Agency of Azerbaijan is participating in the 42nd session of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly at the ICAO headquarters in Montreal.
The event brings together 2,639 representatives from 181 countries and 53 international organizations.
On the opening day of the session, Azerbaijan was awarded a "High Achievement" certificate by the President of the ICAO Council for establishing an effective flight safety oversight system and for significant accomplishments in the effective implementation of ICAO standards and recommended practices.
The ICAO Assembly is held once every three years, with the participation of high-ranking government officials.
Alongside the ICAO Council, the Assembly serves as a governing body, convening to review past work, set organizational policies, and approve the budget.
The agenda of the current session includes discussing ICAO"s activity report for the past three years; elections to the ICAO Council; reviewing committee and commission reports on various areas of civil aviation; addressing the organization"s financial activities; and considering the budget for upcoming years.
Bilateral meetings of the Azerbaijani delegation are also planned during the session.
