Expert: Climate disasters in Latin America hit economies hard

Climate disasters in Latin America and the Caribbean are dealing a serious blow to the economy and infrastructure.

Report informs that Costa Rican representative Laura Porras said this at WUF13 in Baku.

According to her, every major climate event in Latin America and the Caribbean also has a serious impact on socio-economic life.

"As a result, infrastructure needs to be restored. For example, some settlements lose water and electricity supply, which directly affects the daily lives of families and the local economy. In addition, damage to highways caused by landslides makes it difficult to transport raw materials and other essential resources. This weakens local economic activity and creates serious problems in the supply chain," she said.
