Azerbaijan reaches agreement with Russia, Iran to implement e-permit system in cargo transportation

Azerbaijan has reached an agreement with Russia and Iran to implement an electronic permit (e-permit) system, which will speed up and simplify procedures in international freight transportation, Subhan Abilov, director of the Freight Transportation Department of the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), said at the 2nd Caspian International Transport, Transit, and Logistics Forum in Baku, Report informs.

According to him, Azerbaijan plays an important role not only as a transit country but also as an active participant in international freight transportation.

"Azerbaijan has the opportunity to participate in international freight transportation in 52 countries – from Mongolia and China to the UK. We are very actively involved in these shipments. Furthermore, significant work has been carried out in the area of digitalization. All freight transportation services have already been converted to electronic format," Abilov noted.

He emphasized that the use of permits from foreign countries remains one of the most important issues in international freight transportation.

"The e-permit system allows for the exchange of hundreds of thousands of documents issued to carriers and drivers for international freight transport. An agreement on implementing the e-permit system has already been reached with Russia and Iran, which are among our largest shipping destinations," stated the AYNA representative.
