Azerbaijan begins work to digitalize CMR

Work has started in Azerbaijan to digitalize the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR), Subhan Abilov, Director of the Freight Transportation Department at the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, said at the 2nd Caspian International Transport, Transit and Logistics Forum in Baku, Report informs.

Abilov stated that CMR is perhaps the most important transport monitoring document in international freight operations: "In the near future, pilot shipments with Russia and Türkiye are planned. In oversized and heavy transport operations, services have already been fully digitalized."

The official noted that foreign carriers can now submit applications, make payments, and obtain permits without coming to Azerbaijan.

"All these services contribute to making transportation processes more transparent and faster," he said.
