ASCO's Azerbaijan ferry undergoes major overhaul and returns to service

The RoPax-type Azerbaijan ferry, owned by the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), a company under AZCON Holding, has undergone a major overhaul, Report informs, citing ASCO.
The repair work was carried out at the Zigh Ship Repair and Construction Yard.
As part of the overhaul, piping and automation works were completed, and various-purpose pumps were repaired.
The vessel's underwater and above-water sections, as well as the railway wagon and vehicle decks, were cleaned and repainted.
In addition, the necessary works were performed in the crew cabins to improve onboard living conditions for the ship's personnel.
Following the completion of the repairs, the ferry underwent sea trials. The trials were successfully completed, and the vessel was returned to service.
Commissioned in 2021, the "Azerbaijan" ferry is 154.50 metres long, 17.7 metres wide, and has a moulded depth of 7.5 metres.
In terms of carrying capacity, it is currently the largest ferry operating in the Caspian Sea and is capable of transporting 100 passengers, 56 tank wagons, or 50 trucks/TIRs.
