Shoe production in Azerbaijan's Aghdam grows 20 times

The footwear industry of Azerbaijan in 2024 demonstrates growth in production volumes, in particular, a 20-fold increase was recorded in the Aghdam district, Report informs referring to the State Statistics Committee.
The capital of the country, Baku, remains the leader in the industry, having produced 458,000 pairs of shoes. This is 144,500 pairs (46%) more than in 2023, and 172,400 pairs (60.3%) more than in 2020.
In the Aghdam district, 112,000 pairs of shoes were produced. A year earlier, there was practically no production in this region. The Guba district increased production to 433,700 pairs, which is 75% more than last year's figure and 3.3 times more than in 2020.
At the same time, the Absheron region has seen a decrease in production volumes to 81,000 pairs, which is 57% less than a year earlier and 3.6% more than in the last five years.
The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic produced 200 pairs of shoes, which means a drop of 99.5% compared to the figures of five years ago, while last year there was no production there. In other regions of the country, 1,500 pairs of shoes were produced, which is 25% more than last year, but 83% less than five years ago.
