Khetag Gazyumov: Azerbaijani wrestlers could have won more medals

Khetag Gazyumov, head coach of the Azerbaijani freestyle wrestling team, stated that the team could have achieved a better result at the World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, Report informs.

"The guys performed well, but I think we could have won more medals. We haven't won gold yet. I hope that as the Olympics approaches, our athletes who are aiming for victory will be better prepared to compete for the highest award," he told Report.

Gazyumov emphasized that he was particularly pleased with Nuraddin Novruzov's success: "It's great that Nuraddin showed his skills and achieved results. This will motivate our young athletes, who also want to become medalists and world champions."

The Azerbaijani team won one silver and three bronze medals at the tournament.

Giorgi Meshvildishvili won silver in the 125 kg category, while Nuraddin Novruzov (61 kg), Arsenii Dzhioev (86 kg), and Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) won bronze.
