Azerbaijani rower wins silver at Lithuanian Open Championship

Azer Ilyasov, a member of Azerbaijan's junior national rowing team who is currently attending a training camp in Lithuania, has won a silver medal at the Lithuanian Open Championship in Siauliai, Report informs.
The competition featured local athletes as well as rowers from the United States, Switzerland and Israel. Ilyasov successfully passed the semifinal stage, which included 15 athletes, and qualified for the decisive race.
In the A final, held in rainy and windy weather conditions, Ilyasov covered the 2,000-meter distance in 7 minutes and 52 seconds, finishing behind only a local athlete to claim the silver medal.
