Azerbaijan's flag bearers for 3rd CIS Games announced

Azerbaijan's flag bearers for the opening ceremony of the 3rd CIS Games have been announced, Report informs, citing the Baku City Circuit Operations Company.

At the opening ceremony, which will take place on September 28 at the Ganja City Stadium, the Azerbaijani flag will be carried by karateka Asiman Gurbanli and taekwondo athlete Zemfira Hasanzada.

Asiman Gurbanli is one of the most decorated athletes participating in the 3rd CIS Games. He is a three-time European champion, winner of the 2019 2nd European Games and the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games, and silver medalist at the 2011 World Championships.

Zemfira Hasanzada is a bronze medalist at the European Championships in Olympic weight categories and a European champion among juniors.

The inauguration of the 3rd CIS Games will be held on September 28, and the closing ceremony on October 8, both in Ganja. Competitions will take place across 12 sports venues in the cities of Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Shaki, Goygol, and Khankandi.
