Azerbaijan represented at Badminton World Federation Council meeting in Paris

Azerbaijan was represented at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Council meeting held in Paris, France, the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation told Report.

The meeting, which discussed key issues of badminton management and global development strategy, brought together BWF Council members from different parts of the world. The President of the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation Taleh Ziyadov took part in the meeting as a BWF Council member representing Europe.

Taleh Ziyadov was elected to the BWF Council for a four-year term at the 86th Annual General Meeting of the organization held in April 2025 in Xiamen, China. The BWF Council represents 203 member countries around the world and unites 600 million badminton fans and 300 million players.

The Council's work is aimed at strategic planning, management control and promotion of badminton development on all continents. The Council meeting, in which Azerbaijan is also represented, took place during the World Championships, one of the most prestigious events in badminton.

Azerbaijan achieved significant success at the World Championships – Ade Resky Dwicahyo, ranked 78th globally, won in the first round against Japanese athlete Koki Watanabe, ranked 19th in the world rankings.
