Vice-Rector: Azerbaijan's hosting ICPC world final to contribute its image

Azerbaijan's hosting the 49th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) world final will contribute to the country's image, Fariz Ismayilzada, Vice-Rector of ADA University, in his statement to journalists, Report informs.

According to Ismayilzada, this will also support the development of IT technologies, computer sciences, and the computer industry in Azerbaijan:

"This competition will contribute to the education and training of the young generation of programmers in Azerbaijan. I would like to note that major companies such as, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and other companies are watching the progress of this competition. They hire students and participants from here, and thus, these companies' connections with Azerbaijan will strengthen. In the future, centers and research bases of these companies could be established in Azerbaijan.

The vice-rector stated that expectations for Azerbaijani teams are high: "But it should also be taken into account that among last year's winners were universities from Singapore, Beijing, and Hong Kong. That means there is very strong competition, and let's hope that our students will also show good results."
