Pakistani auditor: Supreme audit institutions must adapt to digital transformation

In the era of digital transformation, supreme audit institutions must keep pace with technological innovation and align their audit procedures with modern standards, Muhammad Usman, Director General of the Audit Department of Pakistan's supreme audit institution, said.

Report informs that he made the remarks during a panel discussion titled "Digital Public Audit for Sustainable Regional Integration," organized by Azerbaijan's Chamber of Accounts as part of the 51st Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group.

Usman noted that public institutions widely use digital technologies in delivering services to citizens, which leads to the generation of large volumes of data.

"For this reason, it is essential for supreme audit institutions both to move their own audit activities to digital platforms and to acquire new competencies to audit digital government systems. Pakistan is working to transform from paper-based auditing to a fully digital audit model. In this regard, an Audit Management Information System covering all phases of audit has been introduced, and the automation of the audit life cycle has been implemented," Usman said.
