Azercosmos: Farmers to be able to track crop growth stages through app

Azerbaijan is expanding the use of digital technologies in agriculture, and in this context, a new mobile app is being developed to facilitate farmers' business operations and increase productivity, Ismat Bakhishov, director of the Geographic Information Systems Center of the Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos), said on the third day of the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Report informs.

According to him, the Farmer App webpage has already been launched: "Work is currently underway on the MVP version of the app. It will be available on both iOS and Android platforms. The app informs farmers about crop growth stages and provides recommendations for optimizing farming practices."

Bakhishov emphasized that climate change is having a significant impact on agriculture:

"This includes drought, unpredictable precipitation, and other climate events. It's also necessary to pay attention to water resources located not only within Azerbaijan but also in neighboring countries. For example, the Kura River is a transboundary river, as its basin is located in several neighboring countries - Türkiye, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Iran. This data allows us to see the big picture and understand the changes."
