The risk of COVID outbreaks will remain despite vaccinations, Director of the World Health Organization’s Department of Immunization, Vaccines, and Biologicals Katherine O’Brien said, Report informs.
"High share of the population vaccinated doesn’t mean that we are all safe," O’Brien said. The WHO representative gave an example of measles.
"Outbreaks of the disease have continued to occur in certain subpopulations even with high overall vaccination rates," she said.
"Rather than focusing on statistics, we must use our knowledge of COVID-19 transmission to develop a smart approach to both prevention and vaccination," she noted.
