544 people in Azerbaijan registered as posthumous organ donors – Official

In the first eight months of 2025, a total of 203 organ transplants were performed in Azerbaijan, the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation told Report.

It was noted that kidneys remain the most in-demand organ, with 60 transplant surgeries carried out during the reporting period:

"Of these, 2 were performed on children and 58 on adults. A total of 36 liver transplants were conducted - 4 in children and 32 in adults. There were 85 corneal transplants, including 1 in a child and 84 in adults. The least performed procedure was bone marrow transplantation, with 22 operations - 21 in children and 1 in an adult."

Additionally, the Center stated that since the enactment of the Law on Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues in 2009, the number of individuals who have voluntarily registered to become posthumous organ donors in Azerbaijan has reached 544.
