US vows continued support for lasting peace between Azerbaijan, Armenia

The United States is committed to supporting a lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, said Amy Carlon, Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Baku, in a video message recorded at the Ateshgah Temple in Baku, Report informs.

Carlon emphasized the longstanding partnership between the US and Azerbaijan, which has spanned over three decades.

"Together, we have combatted terrorism, advanced energy security, and built prosperity for both our countries," she noted.

Referring to the recent peace initiative introduced at the White House on August 8, she described it as the start of a "bold new chapter for the South Caucasus region."

"By locking in this path to peace, we are unlocking the great potential of the South Caucasus region as a trade, transit, and energy hub - the keys for our future economic cooperation," Carlon said.

She also highlighted the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by US President Donald Trump and President Ilham Aliyev, calling it the first step toward building a US-Azerbaijan strategic partnership.

Looking ahead, Carlon stated her mission is to deepen bilateral relations and support the regional peace process over the next three years:

"By working together, we can achieve more. I've already seen the richness of Azerbaijani culture, the welcoming people, stunning natural beauty, and delicious food. I look forward to experiencing all of this during my time here," she added.
