UN representative urges collective action on women's challenges

Women must collectively fight against the challenges they face, Kaori Ishikawa, UN Women's Representative in Georgia and Coordinator for the South Caucasus, said at the Women's Assembly held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

Report quotes her as saying women are increasingly gaining more seats in parliaments:

"But the reality is that women face discrimination in politics and other fields. This is also reflected in their housing security. We must achieve the restoration of justice in the provision of adequate housing. There is unequal income and opportunities for women in this area. We must strive to take into account the needs of both women and men. Particular attention should be paid to housing security against the backdrop of climate change."
