TURKPA Secretary General Ramil Hasan has criticized the resolution on Azerbaijan adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), describing it as part of a recurring pattern of unfounded criticism directed at the country by European parliamentary institutions.
According to Report, Hasan noted that such resolutions appear to be an attempt to "punish" Azerbaijan following the restoration of its territorial integrity.
"The politicization and manipulation of human rights issues, the application of double standards, and their use as a tool against sovereign states are unacceptable," Hasan said.
He added that, rather than adopting such resolutions, PACE should support Azerbaijan's post-conflict efforts, including reconstruction, restoration, and humanitarian demining activities in areas affected by the conflict.
"Instead of adopting such resolutions, it would be more constructive to demonstrate solidarity with Azerbaijan and, within its mandate, contribute to ongoing efforts, including clarifying the fate of nearly 4,000 Azerbaijani citizens who remain missing," Hasan said.
The TURKPA Secretary General also called on international parliamentary institutions to promote dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect for the fundamental principles of international law.
