Tree-planting campaign held in Irpin to mark Zarifa Aliyeva's 103rd birth anniversary

The Ukrainian city of Irpin has marked the 103rd anniversary of the birth of academician Zarifa Aliyeva, a prominent ophthalmologist, Report informs.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine Seymur Mardaliyev, diplomats of the embassy, staff of SOCAR's representative office in Ukraine, officials from the Irpin and Borodianka city administrations, teachers and students of the Irpin Humanitarian Lyceum "Linguist," which bears the academician's name, and members of the Azerbaijani diaspora laid flowers at the bust of Zarifa Aliyeva.

Ambassador Seymur Mardaliyev spoke about Zarifa Aliyeva's rich life path, friendly relations between the two countries and the support provided by Azerbaijan for the restoration of Irpin.

Acting Irpin Mayor Angela Makeyeva said Zarifa Aliyeva's memory is honored not only in Azerbaijan but also in Ukraine.

"It is a great honor for us to honor the blessed memory of outstanding ophthalmologist Mrs. Zarifa together with the Azerbaijani people on her birthday. We continue to receive assistance from the friendly Azerbaijani people. I express my gratitude to the state and people of Azerbaijan for standing shoulder to shoulder with us during this difficult period," she said.

As part of the event, participants viewed books donated by the Irpin city administration to its sister Lachin district.

At the joint initiative of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine and SOCAR's representative office, a tree-planting campaign was held in Druzhba Park, which bears the academician's name. Sakura trees were planted in different parts of the park.

At the end of the event, participants visited the museum of academician Zarifa Aliyeva at the Linguist Lyceum.
