The Baku session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) gathered a record number of participants-57,000 people, stated Anaclaudia Rossbach, Executive Director of UN-Habitat, at the closing ceremony of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.
"WUF13 brought together a record 57,000 participants from 176 countries here in Baku, including more than 3,000 participants who joined online, sending a powerful and unified signal," she said.
Rossbach emphasized that the forum in Baku featured six dialogues, ten special sessions, and more than 350 events.
She noted that the world is at a decisive moment for the future of housing and can no longer afford inaction, stressing the need to move from limited progress to systemic transformation.
"This week, 11 heads of state and government, 88 ministers, 130 mayors, representatives of local and regional authorities, civil society organizations, private sector leaders, and communities came together around one fundamental truth: housing is not just a commodity. Housing is a human right," Rossbach said.
