Minister: Allegations that border checkpoint in Lachin is 'illegitimate' are unfounded

On August 3, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the US Department of State's Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations, Louis Bono, Report informs.

Bayramov drew attention to the fact that Armenia, contrary to its obligations, does not fully withdraw the Armenian armed detachments from the territories of Azerbaijan, continues its claims against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, and obstructs the opening of communications. The mentioned issues do not serve peace and stability in the region.

At the same time, Bayramov emphasized that the allegations that Azerbaijan is blocking Armenian residents and that the border checkpoint in Lachin is “illegitimate” are unfounded. Taking into account Armenia's provocations on the Lachin road and the border checkpoint, it was once again emphasized that Azerbaijan's proposal to use the Aghdam-Khankandi road to help Armenian residents remains valid.
