Mercier: Commissioner Kos's visit demonstrates EU's commitment to peace in South Caucasus

Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos's visit to Azerbaijan and Armenia should be seen in the context of the peace process between the two countries. This is truly a turning point for the South Caucasus region, and the Commissioner's visit to the region is a demonstration of support for this process, EC Spokesperson Guillaume Mercier said, Report informs.

"During her visit, she will seize the opportunity to reaffirm the EU's strong commitment to this peace process and full regional normalization," he said.

The commissioner is also visiting the region with a clear and strong message: now is an opportunity to strengthen ties with the countries of the South Caucasus and enhance EU cooperation in this part of the world, he noted.

"Regarding the Black Sea Strategy in the context of the EU's connectivity agenda in the region, this will benefit all parties involved and the people of the South Caucasus," Mercier added.
