Garafulic: Azerbaijan providing platform for international discussions

Azerbaijan is providing a platform for open discussion of complex international issues, including the composition and expansion of the UN Security Council, UN Resident Coordinator a.i. in Azerbaijan, Igor Garafulic, said at the General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform, Report informs.

He said that over the past three to four months in Azerbaijan, he has seen the country's serious approach to international issues and the openness with which complex topics are discussed.

Garafulic noted that after reviewing the event's program and hearing the call by Azerbaijani Presidential Aide Hikmet Hajiyev to discuss complex issues such as the composition and expansion of the UN Security Council, he became convinced of the importance of such discussions.

"During my stay in the country, I have seen how Azerbaijan raises and discusses such issues, providing a platform for such discussions," he emphasized.

Garafulic also encouraged participants who will receive an invitation to visit Karabakh to take advantage of the opportunity. He said that about two weeks ago, he visited the region with the diplomatic corps accredited to Azerbaijan and was impressed by the scale of the restoration work.

He noted that some of his colleagues, who have been working in the country for several years, also confirmed the significant progress and scope of work accomplished in the region.
