France's new ambassador hails Azerbaijan's path to peace

France's newly appointed ambassador to Azerbaijan, Sophie Lagoutte, stated that it is a great honor for her to represent France in a country that is resolutely advancing on the path to peace, the French Embassy in Azerbaijan said on social media, Report informs.

"It is a great honor for me to represent France in a country that is rich in history, traditions and diversity, of strategic importance, and resolutely advancing on the path to peace," ambassador noted.

The diplomat then thanked her predecessor, Anne Boillon: "First, I would like to express my deep respect to my predecessor Anne Boillon, who spared no effort to maintain the existing ties between France and Azerbaijan during a difficult period. I am looking forward to getting to know you soon, to meeting those who preserve these relationships in their daily lives, and those who ensure France's simple but stable presence in Baku and beyond. I am also eager to meet everyone who contributes to enhancing France's reputation through their personal or professional activities."

The ambassador emphasized her special belief in the power of the French language and the values it embodies, such as dialogue, openness, and respect for diversity.

"I will ensure that our activities in this area remain ambitious in order to respond to the constant interest and enthusiasm of Azerbaijanis who are interested in the French language and want to discover our country and culture through education, travel, or business opportunities. I am confident that together we will continue to uphold French values and interests and develop relations between our countries and peoples," she noted.
