Farid Shafiyev: Azerbaijan achieved victory in Karabakh only by force

"Until now, all our achievements, including the victory in the Second Karabakh war, have been achieved only through force," said Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), Report informs.

"Some politicians and activists on social networks claim that the visit of Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, to Armenia is related to the events taking place on the border with Azerbaijan, and they blame the Azerbaijani government in this matter.

"Of course, they forgot that the well-known 907th amendment against Azerbaijan was adopted in 1992 in the same Congress against the Elchibey government, which was in power in Azerbaijan at the time. That year, Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan began and Armenian units committed genocide in Khojaly. Those activists can perhaps explain why the representatives of the USA and France did not visit the internationally recognized areas of Azerbaijan, for example, Shusha. Maybe this government blocked their way? When was the last time the representative of the US voiced the opinion that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan should be protected from the aggression of Armenia? They did not say it even in 1992-1993. However, it was clear who provided military support to Armenia in the First Karabakh War and who put pressure on Azerbaijan in 2016.

"Until now, all our achievements, including the victory in the Second Karabakh war, have been achieved only through force. Occupant Armenia did not leave our lands voluntarily. Maybe someone does not know, but unfortunately, this country did not give up its claims against Azerbaijan and even tried to bring up the issue of the so-called "Nagorno Karabakh" in one form or another in Brussels. In this case, France and the United States are helping Armenia in a certain way to restore the Minsk Group's activities. Russia, of course, has its own interests.

"We have had martyrs again recently. We should solve all the issues soon. The next generation should not inherit problems. We should not follow interpretations that are far from reality.

"Azerbaijani people lived through a very difficult period and saw tragedies. Domestically, we can argue about any issue, but we must unite against external pressure and threats," he noted.
