The Washington accords have significantly accelerated the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said while speaking to journalists aboard his return flight from China, Report informs.
The Turkish leader expressed hope for the swift establishment of lasting peace in the South Caucasus.
"The agreements reached in Washington between Baku and Yerevan have undoubtedly sped up the normalization process. Azerbaijan and Armenia have largely overcome obstacles to peace and are approaching the final stage," Erdogan stated.
He added that he held in-depth talks with both Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"During both meetings, I saw that Aliyev and Pashinyan adhere to the same position," Erdogan noted.
