Deputy FM: Final decision on dissolution of Minsk Group expected on Sept. 1

The final decision on the dissolution of the Minsk Group is expected on September 1, Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev told journalists, Report informs.

According to Rafiyev, there were two main conditions for signing a peace agreement with Armenia:

"One of them is the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, and the other is making amendments to the Armenian constitution. One of these has been implemented. A joint appeal has already been addressed to the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office by the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding the dissolution of the Minsk Group. The final decision is expected to be made on September 1."

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the other condition still remains unfulfilled:

"After amendments to the Armenian constitution are made, the necessary foundation for signing a peace agreement will be formed. Currently, there is no official information about constitutional changes. No initiative has been put forward by the Armenian side. But we are in anticipation. Naturally, our desire is to sign a peace agreement as soon as possible. This could happen in the shortest time after this change takes place."
