CICA members must be ready for tectonic shifts – Chinese expert

Members of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) must be prepared for tectonic transformations, said Chen Dongxiao, a senior research fellow and the President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies.

According to Report, he made the remarks during the closing ceremony of the 13th session of the CICA Think Tank Forum.

He praised the depth and quality of the discussions held during the forum:

"Such rich discussions were commendable. CICA member states must continue the organization"s flagship projects in the future. It is crucial to implement Asian values based on the UN Charter," he noted.

Chen Dongxiao expressed confidence that these discussions would continue under ongoing initiatives, adding:

"Our think tank members must become even more innovative. We must all be ready for tectonic shifts, keeping in mind the long-term perspective."
