Azerbaijan, Türkiye hold consular consultations in Ankara

The next round of consular consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Türkiye has taken place in Ankara, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Turkish side was headed by Gulsun Erkul, Director General for Consular Affairs and Citizens Abroad.

In the first session, discussions focused on the current state of bilateral cooperation in consular matters, including the development of the legal framework, protection of citizens' rights and freedoms, provision of consular assistance, and expanding relations in justice, labor, and social protection.

The second session, chaired by Ambassador Esin Çakıl, Director General for Migration Policy and Visa Affairs of Türkiye's MFA, addressed recent innovations in consular services, migration and visa policy exchanges, and Azerbaijan's visa and migration regulations applied during COP29 in Baku (2024).

Following the consultations, the Azerbaijani delegation paid a courtesy visit to Türkiye's Directorate of Migration Management, meeting with Fatih Ayna, Head of the Department for Foreigners. They expressed gratitude for support provided to Azerbaijani citizens living in Türkiye and discussed expanding cooperation.

Representatives from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and Prosecutor General's Office, as well as Türkiye's Ministries of Justice and Interior, also participated in the meetings.
