Azerbaijan, Brazil mull ties

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met Senator Antonio Anastasia, a member of the Senate of the National Congress of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and head of the working group on interparliamentary relations with Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the Foreign Ministry.
Jeyhun Bayramov sincerely greeted the Brazilian senator, noting that Azerbaijan attaches importance to the development of relations with Brazil. He noted that the development of relations at the parliamentary level has a positive impact on the establishment of relations between people. The minister expressed confidence that the senator’s visit and the numerous meetings he held will contribute to the development of bilateral relations. Expressing satisfaction with the existing political dialogue between the two countries, he called for consideration of prospects for cooperation in the economic sector, as well as humanitarian, cultural, educational, and other issues. He expressed interest in expanding relations in various fields.
The minister also filled the senator in on the former Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, its grave consequences, the current situation in the region after the 44-day war, new realities in the post-conflict phase, the restoration and construction of liberated territories. He spoke about the implementation of trilateral statements, including the measures taken by Azerbaijan to normalize relations between the two countries. It was noted that Azerbaijan stands for long-term regional peace and security.
Senator Antonio Anastasia expressed his satisfaction with the visit to Azerbaijan and the meetings held within this framework. Stressing that despite the geographical distance between the two countries, the two peoples are close to each other, the senator said that this factor is of great importance for the development of bilateral relations.
Noting that he is aware of the latest developments in the region, Antonio Anastasia stressed that Brazil has always stood for peace and the implementation of UN resolutions. Noting that he was in Agdam during the visit, the senator added that he saw the ruins there with his own eyes. He said his country is looking forward to lasting peace in the region and normalization of the relations.
The sides also exchanged views on some issues of the bilateral agenda.
