The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line creates new opportunities for expanding logistical connections in the region, Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov told a meeting of Heads of Government/Vice-President of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Baku, Report informs.
He highlighted a number of important initiatives put forward by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation within the framework of the organization.
"Strengthening transport connectivity remains one of the key priorities. The International Multimodal Transport Forum held in Tashkent in November last year served as an important platform for developing practical solutions aimed at the development of transport and logistics corridors and strengthening regional connectivity," he noted.
According to Aripov, Uzbekistan considers it expedient that such forums be held regularly in member countries.
"The development of the Middle Corridor, as well as the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway projects, is equally important, as they create new logistical opportunities," he added.
